Office Privacy Booth

The HEMU Acoustics Office Privacy Booth addresses the most common acoustic pain point in modern open-plan offices: the inability to make or receive a confidential call without the entire floor listening in. Unlike a standard soundproof office booth — which optimises for general broadband noise reduction — the privacy booth is tuned for the 250 Hz–4 kHz speech frequency range, achieving STC 40 (Speech Privacy Index > 0.90) while maintaining a compact footprint that fits between standard office workstations.

The booth's 120 mm composite wall system uses a mass-loaded vinyl (MLV) core sandwiched between acoustic mineral wool and a perforated inner panel, with a proprietary decoupled inner leaf that reduces flanking transmission through the floor structure. The result is that speech inside the booth is inaudible at 1 metre outside — verified by our standard commissioning test.

A full-height glazed front door with triple-gasket acoustic seal provides visual openness while maintaining acoustic performance. The door auto-closes on a pneumatic hinge with no slamming mechanism, preserving office ambience and preventing inadvertent noise ingress during door operation.

Interior fittings are selected to support confidential communication: a fold-down writing surface at 720 mm (standing use) or an optional perch stool at 650 mm; a ceiling-mounted directional microphone pre-cable for integration with room-booking or VC systems; and a 4-port USB hub with 100W USB-C PD for laptop and device charging. A motion-sensor LED panel provides 450 lux task lighting and powers down automatically 30 seconds after exit.

The booth ships in four flat-pack cartons and assembles in under 45 minutes on casters, making it fully relocatable as office layouts change. Floor footprint is 1100 mm × 1100 mm — small enough to fit a standard desk bay.
